The new high school facility for the Greene County school district that includes an auditorium, competition gymnasium, and career academy complete with (2) learning kitchens, labs for construction, welding, manufacturing, and agricultural technology instruction, as well as classrooms for healthcare and digital learning. The building is constructed of four distinct wings with a central connected common space. Great care was taken to conceal utilities in the common space to maintain a clean and open aesthetic. A radiant heated floor system is used in part of the common area to ensure comfort in the winter without conspicuous components. The classroom wing features an iconic learning staircase with clerestory above. The building is served by a 4–pipe hydronic system which is fed from (2) air cooled chillers and (3) boilers in the auditorium wing. Five VAV rooftop units, with terminal reheat boxes, deliver conditioned air and ventilation to the building. Energy recovery wheels are provided on rooftop units as required by the IECC. The auditorium rooftop unit is mounted on grade to reduce vibration and provided with duct sound attenuators as coordinated with the acoustical and theater consultants. A duct-mounted humidification system protects sensitive instruments in the auditorium wing. Domestic hot water is provided by gas-fired tank water heaters in each wing.
